The extended use of thioorganometallic complexes of formula (I) as antioxidants and accelerators in the vulcanisation of elastomers. where M is a transition metal or a metal from Gp. Ib, IIb, IIIB, or Vb, of oxidn. state n, R1 and R2 are 1-20C opt. substd. aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic gp. contg. 0-3 heteroatoms chosen from O, S or N. Y is H, R, RS or RCO where R is 1-20C aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic gps. Y is linked to at most one of R1 and R2 to form a 1-20C divalent gp., at least one of the Z's of the n coordinating is being S.
