Abstract

The antigens which are water soluble, are prepd by extracting powdered acarid with H2O, 0.9% NaCl, Ringer's soln, a mixt of H2O and a 1-6C alkanol, or a soln contg. monosodium phosphate, disodium phosphate and NaCl, dialysing the extract with H2O and evaporating the soln. to give the antigen. The antigen which gives a positive allergic tissue reaction when admin. intracutaneously to mammals to acarid antigens, and stimulate the formation of acarid antigen antibodies in mammals are used in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic asthma. Characteristics of antigen, i.e. solubilities, analysis, reaction to various test solns, etc. are claimed.
