Abstract

Magnetic tape, film or thread support contains a powdered ferromagnetic substance (I) and an magnetic binder (pref. polyester) where the support is of one layer contg. 5-60 wt.% (I) homogeneously distributed. (I) is Fe, Co, Ni powder or alloy. The polyester is produced from combinations of aliphatic/aromatic diols and dicarboxylic acids. A magnetic field is applied during spinning of the polyester contg. (I). The tape is used for information storage and has better magnetic properties than the two-layer type. Cheaper process, produces fewer rejects.
