A mixt of alpha and beta-pinenes, oxidised by air in the presence of a free radical initiator at 50-90 degrees C for 30-50 hrs. to give a product contg. terpines which is purified by removal of acidic cpds. and fractional distn. A fraction of b.pt. 65-105 degrees C under 14 mm Hg from the product and an antibiotic esp. tetracycline are admixed to form an antibacterial medicament.
