Polymsn. reaction is carried out in a reactor provided with an outer circulation circuit in which the change in the s.g. of the reaction medium resulting from the progress of the polymsn. is measured by a radiation probe, and the resulting signal is passed to a device automatically controlling the supply of a polymsn catalyst. This method is more rapid than the conventional use of a hydrometer.
