Abstract

A pusher element is carried on one end of a pair of piston rods which are rotably connected to a piston movable in a cylinder arranged co-axially above the needle cylinder, and a tubular retaining element into which the pusher-element can be withdrawn is connected to piston rods of a second piston arranged co-axially with the first piston in a second cylinder. When knitting commences, the first piston is operated to advance the pusher element through the bore of the needle cylinder, thereby pushing the knitted hose to a delivery pipe to which a suction is applied. When the pusher-element has reached its lower extremity, the second piston is operated to engage the hose adjacent the needles and retain it while the pusher-element is withdrawn. Pref. the pistons descend under gravity against a gas pressure in the cylinders. The device can be used with continuous or long knitted hose.
