Abstract

The sulphides are obtd. by pptn. from a soln. obtd. after leaching impure oxide Ni ore of the lateritic type with H2SO4. The process comprises the following steps (a) drying and roasting of sulphide to obtain impure oxide, (b) dissolving of oxide in conc. HCl (c) addn. of oxidising agent in sufficient quantity to oxidise Fe present in soln. (d) purification of soln. by extraction with an organic phase contg. a sulphonium salt, (e) electrolysis of the purified soln. using insoluble anodes.
