Thermally stable, porous shaped inorganic article is produced by (a) foaming a soln., and/or dispersion contg. an inorg. cpd. and a dissolved linear polymer with a degree of polymsn. of not 2000, (be allowing the pdt. to solidify, and opt. (c) subjecting the foamed material to thermal treatment at 300-2500 degrees C.
