Abstract

Granules containing NaClO2 are produced from the aqueous medium containing NaClO2 by introducing the medium into a fluidized-bed dryer and evaporating the water in the presence of seeds whose diameters are less than those of the desired granules. The seeds may be introduced into the dryer from an external source or they may be formed in situ. by mechanical destruction of part of the particles in the bed, or they may be obtained by spray-drying and aqueous medium. The base of the dryer may be provided with a scraper to prevent the bed particles from settling. The bed temp. is pref. 80 degrees C. The carrier gas injected into the base of the bed is pref. at 180 degrees C.
