Abstract

Compsns. contng. 1,1,1-trichloroethane, tert. amyl alcohol, xylene and opt. another alcohol are stable and effective in cleaning metal surfaces without causing corrosion and without leaving surface spots and stains. Usually xylene is present in amount 0.1-1 times the amount of tert. amyl alcohol, on wt. basis. Prefd. compsns. contain 0.02-3.5 wt.% xylene and 0.1-5 wt.% tert. amyl alcohol (based on the trichloroethane).
