Abstract
A coaxial cable includes a centre conductor and a tubular outer conductor supported by spaced plastics discs from the inner conductor, the discs being bonded securely to both conductors. The bonding ensures that when the outer conductor is ruptured any moisture entering the space between the conductors is restricted to the compartment directly under the rupture and does not travel along the cable. In this way attenuation is not appreciably increased. The discs are pref. of an ionomer or a copolymer of ethylene and an acrylic monomer.
