Abstract

Lamination of a preheated adhesive coated transparent thermoplastic film and paper preprinted with images meshed in alternating parallel segments using chilled nip rolls where one has a surface of parallel channels of similar width to the picture sections. The heat treatment is to stabilise the thermoplastic sheets. Pref. the running edges of film and paper are printed with patterns and colours which superimpose to indicate and facilitate alignment of the printed segments w.r.t. the ribbed surface profile. For mfr. of composite pictures presenting different scenes depending on the direction of observation. Combines the effect of a multi-element thermoplastic lens with patterns printed onto flat paper rather than directly onto flat or profiled plastic sheet.
