Abstract

Method of making a metal-carbide-cobalt alloy with a resilient core and a hard surface comprises preparing the article by sintering in the usual way so as to produce an overcarburisation of the alloy which is then resilient due to the presence of excess C as graphite, then decarburising the surface only to provide a thin hard layer.
