Abstract

The skirt has two circular tubular collectors, one supplying a coolant and the other removing it, situated in two horizontal planes and connected by an array of tubes of smaller dia. than the collectors. The tubes arranged in this way provide a simple circuit for the coolant thus preventing the build up of steam and avoiding overheating. Flow-control diaphragms are unnecessary since the coolant entrance and exit are diametrically opposed and the distance travelled by the coolant is always the same.
