Abstract

The new cpds. are of formula (I): (where R is H or tetrahydropyranyl). They are prepd. from 3-oxo 17 beta-OH 17 alpha-CH3 13 beta-C2H5 gona 5,9,11-triene (II) by protection of the 17 beta-OH, e.g. with a tetrahydropyranyl gp. followed by methylation esp. with CH3I, and removal of the protecting gp. if required.
