(I) and their salts (where Aryl is Ph and R is OCOR, CH2OH, CH2OCOR1, COR1, CN, CONR1R2 or OCOOR1, or is m-trifluoro-methylphenyl and R is OH or OCOR1; R1 is 1-4C alkyl; R2 is H, Me or Et or N(R2)2 is an N-contg. heterocyclic ring) are prepd. by a variety of methods involving condensing a 3,3-diphenylpropyl halide and a piperidine and opt. introducing R1 or Aryl, R into the piperidine ring or converting R=OH into R=acylated OH or amidating R=COOH, or reducing R-COOAlkyl to R=CH2OH, or replacing the 3,3-diphenylpropyl halide by 3,3-diphenyl-propionaldehyde or the propionyl halide and opt. reducing the product.
