Abstract
The fodder, esp. lucerne, used to make pellets for dairy cattle and veal calf feed esp. in automatic feeding plant, is predried and compressed. Before pressing pregelled starch, esp. contng. amylopectin, starch is added in amt. 10% (esp. 8%). Nutritional value and ease of processing are increased. The starch may be in an aq. dispersion or powdered and may be added to the chopped fodder esp. predried to a water content 10-30% (esp. 12-25%) e.g. in the field after cutting.
