Abstract
Revolving glass furnace contains a molten metal layer lining which is kept in position by the centrifugal forces of rotation and forms a cavity for the charge. The furnace may have a horizontal or vertical axis of rotation. The metal has to have a specific gravity greater than the charge and has to be kept out of contact with air. The molten meal layer reduces wear on the furnace refractories by reducing friction and also helps heat reflection from charge/metal interface back into the charge.
