Abstract

Measurement of the speed of transport of an electrically conducting product, e.g. a metallic product coming from a rolling mill, a wire being wound up etc., by the known technique using a travelling magnetic field from an electromagnetic inductor to scan the products, with the improvement whereby the forces exerted on the inductor are detected and annulled by varying the speed of the travelling field in such a way as to make it equal to that of the moving product and measuring the speed at this point when the forces are annulled.
