Abstract

Plastic bags to be carried by hand have the top is folded to accept a plastic drop-in or slide-in reinforcement strip which is anchored by weld lines at each end and trapped or held by at least one weld line near the axis of the bag wall. Pref. the strip is anchored at two zones near the middle leaving a hand hold between. A false weld may be provided parallel to and below the reinforcement to keep the bag closed until first used. Designed to facilitate insertion and anchorage of the reinforcing strip by automated bag mfg. machinery.
