Abstract
In a laser head of the known type having at least one elongated active element optically pumped by >=1 discharge tube, the active part of which faces at least one part of the lateral surface of the active element, the optical pumping device is contained in a transverse plane to the direction defined by the active element. More especially the laser head has a series of discharge tubes forming the optical pumping system, in a series of transverse, parallel planes, and the active medium consists of a bundle of elongated elements, at least one part of the optical pumping system being arranged between two active elements.
