Abstract
Self-clearing filter comprises a mechanism for periodically deforming the filter sheet to dislodge accumulated sediment. The system is adapted to a cylindrical filter by employing a rotary paddle shaft to deform a filter sheet resiliently supported around the paddle shaft so that the sheet springs back as a paddle moves on. May be used in filters employing precoat materials, and in conjunction with backwashing and/or scraping.
