Abstract

A sleeve which grips the circumference of a tube and supports it coaxially in a bore, allowing relative axial movement between tube and bore as the sleeve is easily slideable in the bore; in this way, there is little danger of stressing and perhaps damaging tubes which tend to move relative to a support bore during a process, e.g., porous barrier tubes used for isotope separation in a diffuser assembly. Essentially the sleeve is made of a springy material and formed with an axially-extending slit in the sleeve wall to allow the sleeve to be sprung out against the inner wall of a bore when a tube is inserted into the sleeve to be tightly gripped by at least three axially-extending ridges.
