Abstract

A pelletizing machine with a vertical axis revolving friction plate inside a cylindrical housing has an upturned edge around the plate leading into the direction of the housing inner wall. The upturned edge is pref. a smooth transition curve, e.g. having a radius of 1/20 - 1 times the plate radius. The space below the plate may be pressurised to prevent particles being trapped between plate and housing. It is used e.g. for a band of extruded plastics material which is fed directly to the machine or first broken up roughly into particles.
