Abstract
Identification of bacteria using a photometer to detect the course of the reaction between a suspension of the bacteria and a chemical product in a sequence of sample cups in which the chemical products differ by: (a) the processing of first and second analogue signals representing the optical density of the contents of a sample cup referred to first and second wavelengths characteristic of the course of the reaction and the presence of the chemical produce, (b) the prodn. from the first and second analogue signals of a third analogue signal which is a growth function for the course of the reaction, and the coding of this signal with respect to a range of given coded variations extending between two pre-determined values are presenting zero reaction and the other total reaction, so that the value of this coded third signal allows the bacteria to be identified.
