Abstract

The 5-ethyl-5-phenylbarbiturate, 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylate, mandelate and tropate salts of heptaminol (6-amino-2-methyl-2-heptanol) have analeptic activity for treatment of senility, cerebral angiosclerosis, depression, fatigue. The sedative and tranquillising activity is not shown by heptaminol hydrochloride. The tropate and mandelate slightly decrease the resistance of the peripheral blood vessels whereas the hydrochloride slightly increases it. Unit doses contain 125-300 mg of the salts for oral or parenteral admin.
