Abstract

Tin or tin alloy plating bath capable of producing a brilliant finish, the finish having good corrosion resistance, ageing resistance and being weldable, contains an additive comprising a phenol substd. at least in positions 2,4,6 in amt. 12-20 g/l of bath. Examples include 2,4,6 trimethyl phenol opt. Cl substd. in any or all positions, pentachlorophenol. The bath may also contain formaldehyde and/or tin fluoroborate or (fluoro) boric acid.
