Abstract

Photoconductor for electrophotographic compositions is a complex of polyvinylcarbazole and a Lewis acid. The carbazole contains a halogen in one benzene ring and may be halogen substituted in the other. Particular complexes are 2:5 dichloro or 2:6-dichloro or N-2:6-trichloro-p-benzoquinones; 1.5-dichloro-2.4-dinitrobenzene; 2:3-dichloro-1:4-naphthoquinone; 2-chloro-3:5-dinitropyridine, 2:5-diphenyl-p-benzoquinone; 9-cyanomethylene-2:4:7-trinitrofluorenes; 2:4:5:7:9-pentanitroindene/2:1-alpha/fluoren-11:12-dione; 2:5-dinitro or 2:4:5:7-tetranitro pref. 2:4:7-trinitro-9-fluorenones. The composition may also contain a sensitiser.
