Abstract

The sheet pref. of expanded polypropylene is cut into strips which are pref. drawn to decrease their elasticity in a longitudinal direction. The strips are then pleated several times parallel to their length, pref. by being drawn over a number of deep flanged pulleys. The string is strong, doesn't stretch, and is easily knotted.
