Abstract

Small beads of ion exchange resin with magnetic properties (either same charge as usual with less magnetic material or higher charge with the same amount of magnetic material) obtd. by applying a magnetic field of 1-5 k Oersted to the bead forming mixture (e.g. phenol, formaldehyde, magnetic particles, surfactant in a silicone oil) after the mol. wt. of the resin has reached 1000-10,000 and the viscosity is between 5-50 Poise.
