Abstract

Due to high specific heat-mass ratio, very light weight thermal absorbers using esp. lithium hydride filling hollow vessels, sealed or otherwise, and absorbing or transmitting mechanical effort can be mounted on the discs, drums, wheels, rims etc. The material also has low melting pt. and thus the latent heat of fusion can provide additional cooling. Other applications are for cooling electronic equipment, gas turbine blades, nuclear reactors etc. Alternatively boron or boron compounds may be similarly used.
