Abstract
In electroslag furnaces where the part of the electrode below the slag is consumed by 3-15 Hz currents between the electrode and the furnace wall, and where the high currents required for the furnace are taken by a static frequency convertor from a 50 Hz triphase grid, esp. the static thyristor frequency convertor is inserted into a circuit coupled to the triphase a grid by a triphase transformer, and to the furnace circuit between the electrode and the furnace wall by a monophase transformer on the furnace.
