Abstract
Sulphoxides and sulphones (esp. DMSO) are prepd. by electrolysis of a soln. contg. at least (a) a cpd. R1SR2 or R1SOR2 (where R1 adn R2 = 1-30C hydrocarbyl) and (b) an oxygen-contg. cpd. (esp. water) miscible with (a), in the presence of O2. The yields are about double those of other electrochemical methods.
