Abstract
Cylindrical or non-cylindrical e.G. square products are tested by a number of cyclically activated ultrasonic emitter/receivers to detect a fault from which reflected impulses are received simultaneously or separately by the same or a different source. The extent, amplitude and position and also the extent and analysis of the waveform of echos are used in an electronic analyser to indicate the precise shape and dimensions of a fault and to indicate its probable nature.
