Abstract

In a process for prepg. a polypeptide by solid phase synthesis the carboxylic gp. (not required in the reaction) of the amino acid to be linked to the polymer is protected in the form of its tert-alkyl ester esp. the t-butyl ester. Conventional polymer substrate blocking groups and polymer removing agents are used. The carboxylic acid ester is hydrolysed by a strong acid e.g. CF3COOH.
