Abstract

Increasing the drainage of condensate from cooling pipes by applying strips of hydrophobic material, or pref. providing hydrophobic flaps or hanging ribs below the maximum horizontal dia., e.g. PTFE tapes or inserts. Esp. for treating metal cooling pipes in an industrial condenser, pref. using twin ribs, flaps or strips, otherwise helical stripes or ribs are used. Improves condenser heat transfer efficiency, and can reduce overall unit size and cost.
