Abstract

Organo-silicon compns. contain a block polyester consisting of cyclobutylene groups bonded to one another through carbonate links or di(carbonyloxy) hydrocarbylene links and is chemically linked to a Si atom of which the remaining valencies are filled by a hydrolysable monovalent group, OH, a monovalent hydrocarbon derivative, H, or O. of a siloxane link. Cross-linkability may be introduced by including alkenyl groups in the polymer. Used as sizing for glass fibre, for protective coatings for metals, moulding and extrusion resins, fibres, packaging films and thermal insulation.
