Abstract

An animal collar incorporating an absorbant element (textile or synthetic sponge) impregnated with a volatile chemical compsn. which is an active insecticide/pesticide/deodorant and/or antiparasitic agent. The: basic collar provides the required strength and an impermeable layer between the impregnated element and the animal's hide: the impregnated element may be stuck or secured outside a strap-like collar or inside a tubular collar which is porous at its edges and/or outer surface. The collar may incorporate and metal reinforcing strip with pockets for impregnated tablets. Pref. collars releases dimethyl dichlorovinyl phosphate and the reagent is incorporated as a plasticiser in a (covered) extruded plastic strip from which it may subsequently diffuse.
