Abstract

A wire grid (pref. 10-50 mesh) is placed between the initiator and the primer material, with an air space below the grid. The effect is to diffuse the spark or flame to exploit the oxygen-rich properties of the primer material to give consistent firing at low temps. e.g. -30 degrees C. Device is thus suitable for use in Arctic conditions.
