Abstract

Propellent powder charges have been developed, which have a high rate of combustion, because of the firing precision obtd. in the case of rockets; these can leave the ramp as combustion ends or when they have acquired a considerable velocity. The charge is comprised of powder lamellae mounted in the form of a star on a longitudinal, cylindrical fixing support. The lamellae are fixed by setting one of their longitudinal edges in a synthetic resin which polymerises at ambient temps.; this leaves practically the whole of the surface free to take part in the combustion. Embedding of the lamellae along their length gives the propellent assembly a very high mechanical strength, bot during its passive life and during combustion. The charges have a short burning time with a good filling coefficient; the specific mass of the propellent is improved together with the speed of the rocket.
