Abstract

LiAl2H7 is prepared by reacting LiH of particle size 1mu with AlCl3 in a diethylether soln. under inert gas. The reaction is effected for 8-15 hrs. at 5 degrees C. The process is simple and easy to control, and does not involve the use of expensive chemicals necessitated by prior art. The Cpd. is used as an extremely specific reducing agent.
