Abstract

The measuring devices, partic for measuring moving strip type test pieces, esp. hot rolled Al, has a chassis with first and second heads on opposite sides of the test-piece and carrying oppositely mounted feelers which are displaceable in the heads, the feelers are driven so as to be in mutual contact at one moment of time and into contact with the opposite faces of the test pieces at another movement. Position coding devices connected to the feelers furnish "zero" position readings when then feelers are in mutual contact and "measure" readings when in contact with the test piece. The signals are combined to give readings of a value representing the actual test piece thickness by optical coding devices.
