Abstract

High mech. and elec. resistance porcelain is formed of (a) 25-50% plastic material e.g. kaolin and high alumina-clay, (b) mixture of fired clay (Al2O3-content 40-45%) and mineralised alumina in the ratio 1:10 to 10:1 and (c) up to 30% fluxing mineral (pref. feldspar or phonolite). The fired material, used mainly for insulators has a bending strength up to 2700 kp/cm2 compared with 800-1000 conventionally.
