Abstract

The walls of a reactor tank are made of concrete, providing the radiation shielding, and are fitted with a sealing layer on the inside, usually a sheet of metal. The metal sheet must fit accurately in spite of any deformations in the concrete face. This method meets these aims with a low installation cost. In this method, a metal frame is surrounded by concrete, and the inner face fitted with slabs of concrete pinned to the frame. A metal sheet is placed over the slabs and welded to projections from the frame passing between the concrete slabs.
