Abstract

The machine comprises superimposed circular plates which rotate around a common axis. The underside of the upper plate has a groove, while the upper side of the lower plate has another groove, opposite the former. These two grooves together form a cavity which is toroidal in shape. The piece of dough, which is to be formed into a ball, is introduced into the machine and coated with flour to prevent any sticking to the plates. If the top plate is rotated while the lower plate remains stationary the ball of dough will roll, without sliding, and will make a complete turn of the machine while the top plate makes two. The ball may be driven by an expansible mandrel so that balls may be made of different diameters. Esp. used in mfr of bread. Add to 1500915.
