Abstract

Compds (I) useful as tranquillising, muscle relaxing and anticonvulsant agents. where R1 is H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or nitro, and R2 is alkyl may be prepd by reacting a 1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one-4-oxide with R2N2 to give the 2-ether, reacting this with Ph Li or PhMgBr to give the 5-phenyl-4-hydroxy-deriv which is dehydrated esp. with PhNCO.
