Abstract

Liquid alloy of lead containing 0.001-0.015 wt. % Li, is cast into battery plates. The plates are immersed in an oxidising solution and current is passed through them, to form a PbO2 layer on their surface. Preferably the plates are rolled into a present shape after casting and before immersion.
