Abstract

Winding glass filament strand on a rotating tube. The strand is traversed over a range which is shifted slowly axially along the tube. This forms a cake with an outwardly sloping surface at the end towards which the traversing range is shifted. This surface includes the last-formed part of the strand. The strand can be unwound from the cake by longitudinal withdrawal.
