Abstract

Sheet is shaped into a fitted 3-dimensional shape. An expansion medium which expands the contacted polymer surface by at least 5% is applied to the sheet during or after shaping. Preferably the sheet is then hardened to prevent recovery to the flat shape. The microporous material is polyurethane. The expansion agent is trichlorethylene acetone, denatured alcohol, CCl4 and/or amyl acetate.
