Abstract

New basic catalysts suitable for isomerisation and/or aromatisation of olefins are produced by forming a finely dispersed deposit of alkali (ne earth) metal on the surface of conventional bifunctional catalysts. Specif. the metal (pref. Na) is applied as a soln. (pref. in NH3) at 0.5 - 5 wt.% rate. The catalysts are much more efficient than conventional acid catalysts are much more range and can also be used at much lower temps. than normal.
